Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces increasing in strength within the urban setting.
Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to begin their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team includes Teor (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the developments of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the group knows exactly where to go next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his own means, entering the secret base, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then cleared his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each character has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, desires revenge.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and advises that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could assist the group reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter pledged a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
Future Episodes
According to episode three’s post-show segment, we discover that the warrior group will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Schemers groups.
Viewers can look forward to learning which characters will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
