19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent the Russian player won his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult year, achieving just one match at the big events and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in especial - led to him falling of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-time coach Cervara.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents his maiden trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court from March of 2023.

Success also means the Russian has won 21 titles at twenty-one various competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is really nice," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six finals, featuring in that event previously this season.

The player's defensive strategy and recurring reactions on the playing surface had caused observers to wonder if his capacity to compete at the elite level was finished.

Yet the player has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play aggressively, supported by an improved service.

He recovered from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five points to go ahead.

The pair exchanged breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his initial ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to create a third set.

The opponent defended 4 initial opportunities in a tight deciding set before the Russian won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he earned victory with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
